Roberto Semprini is the designer of coffee table in curved glass Manta by FIAM.
Semprini was born in Rimini in 1959 and studied Architecture in Florence where he graduated in 1986.
In 1987 he was a member of the “Bolidismo”, the Italian avant-garde design group.
During his career he collaborated with leading national and international companies such as Edra, Arredaesse, Moroso, Tonelli, CN Intern, Ferrart, Trivellini, Camaeti Arte, Play Line, R.S.V.P., Valdichienti, Laboratorio Pesaro, Alivar e Ciacci.
In 2000 he went back to Rimini where he opened the RM 12 art & design, an art gallery and a design, interior and architecture studio.
In addition to his collaboration as journalist with the design magazines Modo, Roberto Semprini he dedicated himself to teaching: he held seminars and conferences at the Project University in Reggio Emilia, at the European Institute of Design in Milan, at the ISIA in Florence, at I.A.V. in Orleans (France) and at the Politecnico in Milan. At the moment he is design professor at A.A.B.B. in Brera (Milan).
The most important creations of the furniture designer Roberto Semprini
In 1988 the architect and designer Roberto Semprini moved to Milan where he worked for “Fuori Orario”, a program for the RAI 3 TV channel and on the interior design of the “Bolidò” discotheque in New York.
In 1989 he created the “Delfin” coffee table-sculpture for Disform (Barcelona); it was placed on display at the New Museum of Design in London.
In 1990 he designed “Tatlin” for Edra, a spiral-shaped sofa inspired by Tatlin’s tower. In 1993 “Tatlin” entered the prestigious international Top Ten selection.
In 1994 he won the Young & Design competition with the “Manta” coffee table created for FIAM.
In 1995 he designed the “Chicciola” chair for Arredaesse and the “Riccione” chaise-longue for Moroso.
In the next two years he presented the “Ordine Inverso” collection of furniture for Camaeti Arte and he designed a collection of curved glass objects for the table for R.S.V.P.
Between 1998 and 1999 he worked with Rede Guzzini, Laboratorio Pesaro, Alivar, Ciacci and presented the new collection of furniture for Arredaesse.
